Serbia’s U16 national basketball team successfully completed the group stage of the FIBA U16 World Cup after recording a convincing 97-71 victory over Ivory Coast in the final Group D game.
The Serbian youngsters finished the group stage with two wins and one loss, securing second place in the standings and advancing to the Round of 16.
After opening the tournament with a defeat to Australia, the young “Eagles” raised their level of play and responded with back-to-back convincing victories over Venezuela and Ivory Coast, sealing their place in the knockout stage.
Serbia will face the winner of the matchup between Slovenia and New Zealand in the Round of 16, with the two teams battling for third place in Group C.
Nikola Kusturica led Serbia to victory with 17 points, while Matija Lukić added 16.
For Ivory Coast, Nathan Djako stood out with an impressive 27-point performance.
