The number of houses in South Korea that were accidentally bombed during military exercises by the South Korean Air Force has risen to 142, local officials announced today.

On Thursday, two KF-16 military aircraft accidentally dropped eight MK-82 bombs on a residential area in the city of Pocheon, South Korea, outside the designated military exercise zone.

Nineteen people were injured in the incident, and 142 houses were damaged, despite initial reports stating that 58 houses had been affected.

Among the injured, four individuals sustained serious injuries, including two foreign nationals—one from Thailand and another from Myanmar.

Twenty-two households were evacuated, while nine families have returned to their homes after partial renovations, according to Yonhap.

The Minister of Interior and local authorities have initiated a damage assessment process and launched a safety inspection, the agency reports.

The mayor of Pocheon previously stated that this accidental bombing was horrific and called on the military to halt exercises until guarantees are provided that such an incident will not happen again.
