U.S. President Donald Trump clarified overnight that he does not, in fact, want Ukraine to target Moscow, denying earlier reports from American media that he had told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this during a July 4 meeting.
“No, no, Ukraine should not target Moscow,” Trump stated, and reminded Russian President Vladimir Putin of a 50-day deadline for reaching a peace agreement regarding Ukraine.
“I don’t think that’s a long period of time,” he warned.
Options if Ultimatum Not Met
When asked what options he expects to have if Russia does not respond to the ultimatum, he said: “Many opinions change quickly. Maybe it won’t be 50 days, maybe it will be much sooner.”
Trump also confirmed that the first deliveries of Patriot systems for Ukraine, via Germany, are “already in transport.”
Russian Attacks Continue
However, Russia appears undeterred by this, as the Ukrainian Air Force reported this morning that 400 drones and one ballistic missile were launched, primarily targeting three cities: Kharkiv, Zelensky’s hometown Kryvyi Rih, and Vinnytsia.
At least two people have died, and at least 12 have been injured.
