Miša Stojiljković, an RTS journalist who hosted the Radio Belgrade Morning Program for 10 years, featured students live, and broadcasted events from their protests, has been transferred to the “children’s” editorial office, from which he will not be able to address listeners, Nova.rs has learned.

With the new management of RTS, recently headed by Manja Grčić, the programming scheme is clearly changing, as are the workplaces of long-term journalists—primarily hosts who are in direct communication with the audience, specifically the citizens.

One of the changes that will surely shock Radio Belgrade listeners is the station’s famous morning program, which is getting a new name and a new hosting lineup.

The current hosts Miša Stoiljković, Aleksandra Madenović, Igor Obračević, and Biljana Šujdović have been—replaced. And instead of the name we all know, “Catch the Day,” it will be called “It’s Morning…”

“This is the final stage of the purge, after which we will need serious cleansing. This is obviously a final showdown with everyone who dared to think and speak freely,” an RTS source told Nova.rs.

Besides Stoiljković, our interlocutor points out, other colleagues have also been “removed” from the Morning Program.

“A new ‘monstrous’ scheme begins on May 4th. No one was fired, but people were removed from the program. Stoiljković is being moved to the Children’s Editorial Office, and the Morning Program will be hosted by some new, younger people, all of whom are employed as freelancers,” our source explains.

“Students are fighting for justice”

Following the incident with the show “Important Things,” one entertainment program after another was canceled.

“After the controversial episode of ‘Important Things,’ in which a boy said that ‘students are fighting for justice and our future,’ Jelena Popadić lost her editorial position, and since then, that editorial office is no longer autonomous but is part of the educational program, which was never the case before. They canceled several entertainment shows that were external productions. Žikica Simić’s shows, ‘Neon Rainbow,’ as well as Dejan Cukić’s show, were removed, all with the explanation that they had turned 65 and could no longer work. However, no one minded that Bujošević worked in his later years, when he should have long been retired,” the source adds.

Regarding the cancellation of the children’s program, “Our Protest” also spoke out today.

“The children’s program editorial office as such no longer exists, thereby extinguishing its autonomy. As a consequence (or as a cause), Jelena Popadić is no longer the editor-in-chief of the office. They did not forget ‘Important Things’ for her,” wrote the organization “Our Protest,” which consists of part of the RTS staff.

Furthermore, the management of RTS has made the decision that three more popular shows will no longer be on the programming schedule. Namely, the shows “Dinner at,” “I Love Serbia,” and “Catch Me If You Can” will no longer be on the RTS schedule.

We remind you that changes in the programming scheme, primarily in the entertainment editorial office, were announced back in September of last year, after the show “Important Things” was broadcast, during which the topic of students arose in a conversation between the host and a boy. During the studio conversation, the boy unexpectedly commented on the events at the time and said that “students are fighting for justice, for our future,” after which the rerun of this episode was canceled.

Until then, in rare situations, RTS had broadcast student protests, but only partially.

Recall that RTS got a new director in February of this year. Namely, Manja Grčić took office as director after the RTS Board of Directors unanimously elected her to this position. She “walked into” high media positions after collaborating with Željko Mitrović in the Pink media system, appearing as a staff member of Antena Group owner Theodoros Kyriakou, and took over the management of what was then B92. Shortly after her arrival at B92, an exodus of long-term journalists followed at that house, which began to cooperate closely with the authorities.
