THE HAGUE DOES NOT RELEASE MLADIĆ FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT IN SERBIA: Request rejected with a shameful admission that the general is in the “last stage of life”!

The President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Graciela Gatti Santana, has rejected the request to allow Ratko Mladić to receive medical treatment in Serbia, with the explanation that his health condition is severe due to chronic illnesses, but that it is not a matter of an acute deterioration that would justify a release on humanitarian grounds.

The President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), Graciela Gatti Santana, explained the decision to reject the request for the release of General Ratko Mladić for treatment in Serbia with statements that “Ratko Mladić’s condition is poor due to chronic illnesses,” but she also admitted that he is “in the final stages of his life.”

In the decision signed by Santana, it is stated that Ratko Mladić’s condition is “mainly based on chronic and multiple illnesses,” and that previous decisions on release for humanitarian reasons were made “due to a sudden acute deterioration of the health condition in other convicts.”

Santana claims that Mladić’s condition is “different compared to incurable illnesses with rapid progression,” and that it therefore differs from the case of Colonel General Nebojša Pavković, the commander of the special forces of the State Security Service of the FR Yugoslavia Franko Simatović, or the former head of the Crisis Staff of the Serbian Autonomous Oblast of Krajina Radoslav Brđanin, Srna reports.

The decision reiterates the claim that Ratko Mladić is under the supervision of the “best experts” and that he “receives all necessary care.”

Darko Mladić: The rejection of the request shows that the Mechanism deals with politics, not justice

The son of Ratko Mladić – Darko Mladić states that the Hague Tribunal has shown that it deals with politics, not justice.

“The Hague Tribunal has, for the umpteenth time, shown that it deals with politics, not justice and law. Unfortunately, we were rejected,” Darko Mladić said in a statement to Srna.

According to him, the explanation of the Mechanism is that he has the best possible doctors providing him with the best possible care, and those are the doctors who treated him for urinary tract infections after he suffered a stroke.

“Those are the doctors who failed to detect a stroke before he suffered a second stroke as well. That level of cynicism has become incredible in the Hague Tribunal,” Darko Mladić said.

The former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, Ratko Mladić, suffered a stroke on April 10, and his severe health condition further deteriorated, as he has serious neurological, cardiovascular, and nephrological problems.

On May 2, he was transferred from the detention hospital to a civilian hospital in The Hague due to a suspected stroke. Since the doctors at the time did not confirm that Ratko Mladić had suffered a stroke, he was returned to the detention hospital.

Since 2024, Ratko Mladić has been in the detention hospital in The Hague, where he is under palliative care.

The Mechanism has repeatedly rejected the request for him to be provisionally released for medical treatment in Serbia.
