At the invitation of high school students and university students, commemorative gatherings will be held in several cities on the occasion of 10 months since the fall of the reconstructed canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, when 16 people died and one was seriously injured.
In Vršac, the gathering is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in front of the Municipality building, and in Novi Sad at 7:00 p.m. in the university campus.
People from Kragujevac will gather at 8:00 p.m. at Đački trg, and people from Leskovac at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Gymnasium.
People from Pančevo have scheduled a gathering for 7:00 p.m. in front of the City Administration. In a post on social networks, they stated that the protest was also scheduled because of educators and teachers who were fired because they did not go to the rallies of the Serbian Progressive Party, because of the chaos in schools, the violence that does not stop, lawlessness, lies and injustice.
The Student Parliament of the Valjevo Gymnasium also made a unanimous decision to suspend classes on September 1, in memory of the victims of the tragedy at the railway station in Novi Sad. They announced a gathering in front of the school at 8:00 p.m. and a commemorative walk called “High School Students Remember.”
In Čačak, a protest called “For Whom the Bell Tolls” started at 12:00 p.m., and a commemorative walk through the city will then be organized.
At the same time, a protest is being held in Niš.
On the occasion of ten months since the tragedy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, a large protest called “We Are All Under the Canopy” will be held today in Belgrade at the invitation of high school students and university students.
According to the plan announced by the high school and university students, the gathering is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in front of the Old Railway Station building, and an organized arrival will be from several parts of Belgrade.
As announced, the protest participants will start a commemorative walk at 6:30 p.m. from the plateau in front of the Old Main Railway Station on Nemanjina Street, then through Slavija and Kralja Milana they will pass through Resavska, Bulevar kralja Aleksandra Obrenovića and Takovska to Svetogorska.
The last section is Svetogorska and Makedonska Street to Republic Square.
In the fall of the reconstructed canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station, on November 1 of last year, the following people died: Sara Firić (2018) from Kovilj, Valentina Firić (2014) from Kovilj, Đorđe Firić (1971) from Kovilj, Milica Adamović (2008) from Kać, Nemanja Komar (2007) from Stepanovićevo, Anđela Ruman (2004) from Stara Pazova, Miloš Milosavljević (2003) from Knićanin, Stefan Hrka (1997) from Belgrade, Sanja Ćirić Arbutina (1989) from Kać, Goranka Raca (1966) from Novi Sad, Vukašin Raković (1955) from Bukovac, Mileva Karanović (1948) from Kać, Đuro Švonja (1947) from Stepanovićevo, Vasko Sazdovski (1979), a citizen of North Macedonia, Anja Radonjić (2000) from Paraćin and Vukašin Crnčević (2006) from Zmajevo who went to school in Novi Sad, while Teodora Martinko (2001) from Kisač was seriously injured.
No indictment has yet been filed against those responsible for the collapse of the canopy, and most of those arrested at the time have been released to defend themselves.
