The Serbian basketball team has secured a place at the European Championship, which will be played in August and September 2025! The team led by Svetislav Pešić defeated Denmark on Sunday in a packed “Aleksandar Nikolić” hall with a convincing score of 98:51.
Thus, the “Eagles” justified the role of the absolute favorite and reached a score of 4-0 in the first four rounds of the EuroBasket qualifiers. With a very serious approach, the world vice-champions and Olympic bronze medalists completely outclassed Denmark.
Against Denmark on Sunday, there was no doubt about which team was better. Denmark managed to somewhat keep up with Serbia in the first quarter, thanks mainly to the inspired Gabriel Lundberg, the Partizan guard.
However, it soon became clear that Serbia was a much better opponent, and the difference was growing uncontrollably in favor of Pešić’s team.
The only bad thing that could be singled out from this match, as far as Serbia is concerned, is a finger injury that forced Dušan Belsać to leave the game. The extent of his injury is still unknown. In the second half, all players got a chance to play, including Mega basketball player Bogoljub Marković, the youngest member of the team.

Serbia will have a new qualifying “window” in February, but the “Eagles” will not be playing for results then. The match Finland – Serbia will be played on February 21, and three days later Serbia will host Georgia, a team coached by Serbian coach Aleksandar Džikić.
The European Championship starts on August 27 and lasts until September 14. It will be played in four countries – the hosts will be Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia. The draw will be held in March, but the exact date has not yet been specified.
Serbia was considered the top favorite of the previous EuroBasket (2022) but was shockingly eliminated in the round of 16 in a duel with Italy.
