The Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of Serbia announced that yet another in a series of arrests of Serbs under the pretext of an alleged war crime is a planned strike by Pristina on the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija with the aim of intimidating and persecuting them from these areas.
The War Crimes Unit of the so-called Kosovo Police, let us recall, detained Dejan Pelevic yesterday, and according to his wife, the detention took place before the eyes of their grandchildren, which further upset the family.
The Office for KiM states that eight Serbs have been arrested since the beginning of the year under unfounded charges.
-Dejan Pelevic is a family man from Socanica, a father of three, who has never left the territory of Kosovo and Metohija since the events of 1999 because he had nothing to hide from or flee from. As a member of the so-called Kosovo Police, he had to pass detailed security checks by Pristina, and further supporting this is the fact that he was engaged as a guard for the so-called prosecution of Pristina in Kosovska Mitrovica, which means he had to be subjected to even more detailed checks – the statement says.

As assessed by the Office, all this indicates that Pelevic was arrested according to a political key, by which Pristina uses war crime charges as a mechanism for retaliation against Serbs, and not for the implementation of some kind of “rule of law.”
-The Office for Kosovo and Metohija is in contact with his family, who are in shock after this unfounded detention, and regarding the case of Dejan Pelevic, it has addressed all relevant international missions requesting that the unfounded persecution of the Serbian people be stopped, and the arrested be released to defend himself from freedom, especially bearing in mind that this is a sixty-six-year-old Serb who is a heart patient and needs adequate medical care and therapy. Additionally, the Office requested that representatives of international missions engage in accordance with their mandate to ensure respect for the human and procedural rights of both the arrested Pelevic and other Serbs who are unjustly imprisoned – the Office states.
As they emphasized, these are politically motivated and legally unfounded proceedings, based exclusively on suspicious testimonies, without verifiable and relevant evidence.
