Despite reports last night that the five people who went missing four days ago in the Žagubica area, in the Beljanica National Park, had been found, the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) told Blic that they have not yet been located.
According to the GSS team from the Bor region, the search operation in Beljanica, Žagubica municipality, is still ongoing.
“It is incorrect to say that the five people have been found. Our team, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is still searching the area. The search is still underway,” GSS representatives in Bor told Blic.
Today, the search effort will be expanded beyond yesterday’s operation, as the Serbian Army is joining the mission. If conditions permit, drones will also be deployed in the search.
“We don’t know where the false news originated from. We’ve been searching for them since early this morning,” the GSS stated.
Missing persons’ car found
This morning, the car used by the missing individuals was discovered on Beljanica.
In coordination with the Mountain Rescue Service, gamekeepers from Brezovica, who had a quad bike, found the vehicle near Mikuljski Kamen, by the Demi Žok stream, Blic confirmed.
According to Blic sources, the car, an Opel, was found stuck in the mud.
Missing for four days
Yesterday, under difficult weather conditions, a team from GSS Bor, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from the Bor police station, firefighters, and a forest ranger searched for the five adults who disappeared four days ago.
The GSS told Blic that the weather conditions had severely hampered the search.
“The weather is very bad, there’s a severe storm in the area. We hope they have found shelter somewhere safe until it passes. The search will resume early in the morning,” GSS representatives stated.
The search operation is focused on the newly established South Kučaj – Beljanica National Park in the Žagubica municipality.
Yesterday, 15 people and three vehicles were deployed in the field. The five missing individuals were last seen in the Dubašnica area.

Fire and Rescue Battalion Bor issues a statement
Stefan Gnjatović, deputy commander of the Fire and Rescue Battalion Bor, told RTS that the search would continue today in the Dubašnica and Malinik mountain areas.
He emphasized that the search is complicated by extremely rugged terrain, dirt roads, heavy fog, and impassable routes. Today, 25 members of the fire and rescue sector will participate in the effort.
“The roads are flooded due to rain, mountain streams are overflowing, and we need to find alternative routes to continue the search,” Gnjatović explained.
90% of the terrain searched
He noted that over the past two days, 90% of the available routes in the area had been searched.
Gnjatović stated that the missing individuals lost cell phone signal on March 28, when they last made contact. Most of the mountain has no signal coverage.
The first footage of the search can be seen in a separate report.
The search for the missing individuals began immediately after their disappearance was reported, involving the Bor Police Department, Mountain Rescue Service, Fire and Rescue Unit, and local forest rangers familiar with the terrain.
Did they stray from their planned route?
Harsh weather conditions—including snow, thick fog, and rough terrain—have made the search extremely difficult.
It remains unclear how exactly they got lost, but it is suspected that they strayed from their planned route due to the bad weather.
