PROFESSOR ATTACKED IN UŽICE: “A group of muscular men in black shirts approached us and started hitting us, the police took a long time to show up!”

Professor Branko Nikolić from the organization “Da ne dišemo Duboko,” speaking about the incidents ahead of the Serbian Progressive Party rally, said that a group of around 15 people sitting in a venue on the Square were attacked after two plainclothes police officers approached them to check their identities.

A Serbian Progressive Party rally is being held today in Užice at Partizanska Square, where Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is scheduled to address the crowd.

At the same time, citizens opposed to his arrival announced a gathering at the same location starting at 3 p.m.

“During the identity check, a group of between 20 and 30 muscular men in black shirts approached us and started hitting us. Chaos and a fight broke out, and uniformed police did not show up for a long time,” Nikolić told Insajder.

Two people, as Nikolić stated, who were sitting with us were injured; one was detained and is currently in hospital.

“Of course, none of the attackers was detained,” Nikolić said.

According to him, police had previously intervened in another part of the town square.

“A fairly large group was standing at the so-called ‘Little Square.’ Then riot police arrived and pushed them back. There was also some kind of gas and pushing,” he said.

However, as he stated, “what is noticeable is the huge paramilitary force of uniformed loyalists – dressed in black.”

“They are arriving from all sides, and there are hundreds of them. And the police, as can also be seen from the license plates of their vehicles, have been brought in from all over Serbia,” Nikolić added.

He also claims that buses are arriving in Užice “from all sides,” and that there are convoys of vehicles.

“So, the president is very much loved when he has to be shown love by people coming from the rest of Serbia, while there will be no Užice residents there,” Nikolić said.
