Tennis GOAT Novak Đoković admitted that he seriously considered withdrawing from the Monte Carlo Masters, as he is still struggling with certain health issues, including an eye infection!
The best tennis player in the world ever has had health problems in recent months – from a hamstring injury at the Australian Open, due to which he forfeited the semi-final to Alexander Zverev, to the latest complication with a sty in his eye during the Miami Masters.
Đoković did not play last week, but plans to start his clay court season this week in Monte Carlo. However, he revealed that he was not sure if he would play at all.

“It was uncertain whether I would play. Especially because of the eye infection, but also a mild viral infection that bothered me last week. It’s better now, although not ideal,” said Novak, and added:
“The infection started on the day of the semi-final in Miami, and it bothered me during the final as well. It has calmed down a bit. I’m going to the doctor, so we’ll see. I hope everything will be okay by my first match here.”
He announced that he is still adjusting to the clay, and that he is trying to cope with health difficulties that have not completely passed.
“I have a couple more days until my first match. I hope I will be ready.”
Đoković is in the top half of the draw in Monte Carlo and will play the winner of the Stan Wawrinka – Alejandro Tabilo match in the second round.
