Novak Djokovic, the best tennis player who has ever played the white sport, spoke about numerous topics in a podcast with Jay Shetty, a motivational speaker, and he revealed how he has been thinking for a long time about stopping playing what he has pushed the boundaries of practically to the point of untouchability.
Novak Djokovic has not been so good this season, although at one point he was playing very good tennis. However, age is catching up with him, perhaps the next one will be his last in top-level tennis, and he himself has revealed that he is thinking about the end of his career.
In the podcast with Jay Shetty, a motivational speaker whom many have accused of being a fraud, he revealed details about the end of his career during the US Open.
“I have always tried to think about things outside of tennis, especially in the last 12-15 years. I have heard from both tennis players and athletes about the mental struggles they had after their careers and especially if they were not prepared for that transition. I don’t think a person can fully prepare for it. Yes, it will be a sad day for me when I leave tennis, it will be very emotional, I know that, but what I’m talking about is the adrenaline that sport brings – it has to be redirected, channeled differently.”
He emphasized tennis as a big part of his life, but he also revealed what other interests he has.
“I love sports and I will play them my whole life, it is crucial for a person to be active. On the other hand, a challenge is needed. Tennis is a big part of my life, but I also have broad interests – wellness is my passion, a healthy life, and that is a wide field. Hydration, nutrition, exercise, sleep – I would like the world to be healthier. Small steps in that direction are valuable and have an effect. Even some athletes do not understand the importance of hydration. It’s not just water, it’s minerals, various supplements, etc. It’s best to get everything through food, but it’s not possible to get absolutely everything.”
Djokovic is anything but an ordinary man, which he proved with the following words.
“I have been carrying an extra suitcase for some time with gadgets that help me be as fresh and as good as possible – infrared light, electromagnetic waves, various tapes, oils, light therapy, vibrations… Everything, I am curious to try everything that is fun for me.”
As a reminder, Novak Djokovic remained fourth on the latest ATP list with 4,830 points, while the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz retained the first place he reached after winning the US Open.
