Employees of the National Library of Serbia have been exposed for several days to an unusual and disturbing presence of police inside the National Library of Serbia building. During this morning, several uniformed police officers moved through the hallways and entrance areas without weapons, while at the same time, two police officers with long guns appeared at the main entrance, visibly patrolling in front of and alongside the building itself.
Employees of this institution asked the police officers if there was a security threat that employees and users should be informed about, and they were answered that “there is nothing,” despite the fact that the presence of long guns in the immediate vicinity of the entrance caused anxiety and discomfort among employees and visitors.
The National Library of Serbia is an institution of public importance, which daily receives a large number of visitors, including students, researchers, and citizens of all ages, reports N1.
It is especially important that the movement of the police inside and around the building be transparent, justified, and in accordance with public safety standards, the institution told N1.
