The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Đuro Macut, today discussed with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the continuation and possibility of accelerating Serbia’s European integration process, as well as the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
Prof. Dr. Macut emphasized Serbia’s unequivocal European orientation during the meeting.
Macut stressed the need to accelerate Serbia’s European integration process and expressed confidence that concrete steps on this path, such as the opening of Cluster 3, which has been awaited for three years, will be discussed soon.
Prof. Dr. Macut also highlighted that Serbia is fully committed to reform processes aimed at aligning with EU criteria, aware of the importance of these reforms primarily for the citizens of Serbia.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starović, European Union Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Peter Sorensen, and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret.
Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, arrived in Belgrade last night. She was met at “Nikola Tesla” Airport yesterday by Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić. Kallas will meet with representatives of the government, opposition, as well as students and civil society in Belgrade, and will hold an independent press conference today.

I want to see Serbia advancing towards the EU. For that, political leaders must deliver the necessary reforms and clarify the strategic direction.

Kallas after meeting with Vučić: “My message is clear”
Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, wrote on the social network X after her meetings with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and other government representatives, that her message is clear and that she wants to see Serbia progress towards the EU.
“My message to the authorities in Belgrade is clear. I want to see Serbia progressing towards the EU. For that, political leaders must implement necessary reforms and clarify the strategic direction. This is best achieved by rebuilding trust and remaining faithful to democratic principles,” she wrote.
According to the official announcement by the European External Action Service (EEAS), Kallas will meet with a wide range of interlocutors in Serbia – from top government officials to representatives of the opposition, civil society, and students. However, unlike previous visits to the region, a joint press conference with her hosts in Belgrade is not planned.
Instead, Kallas will hold an independent press conference on Thursday, May 23, scheduled for 1:15 PM. Prior to that, she will speak with representatives of the parliamentary opposition at the National Assembly at 10 AM, and meetings with students and civil society actors are also scheduled for the day.
