Miloš Dumnić, one of the young men who was run over by Željko Vujović during a horse race near Bileća, recounted what happened before the chaos began.
A group of young men from the Bileća village of Korita decided to spend Saturday watching the horse races in the village of Bijeljani. They watched the competition and then went for a drink, at Vujović’s tent. Shortly afterward, an argument began, Dumnić told ATV.
“There was a misunderstanding, after which he started throwing tables and chairs around our table. We talked to him; there was no argument, pushing or dispute. When we were leaving, he was waiting for us in his car, and then he drove toward us and started hitting us,” Dumnić recounted.
Vujović ran over four young men. Three suffered minor injuries, while one sustained serious injuries and remains in the intensive care unit. He is stable and is expected to undergo surgery.
After that, Vujović began to flee. Police found him and, together with his accomplices, handed him over to the Trebinje Prosecutor’s Office.
He is charged with the criminal offense of “attempted aggravated murder.” Due to the seriousness of the offense, he will stand trial before the District Court in Trebinje.
In addition to him, three other people were arrested. Two young men are suspected of helping Vujović flee, while a woman is charged with the criminal offense of obstructing evidence.
