A seventy-year-old female perished in a fire that engulfed the house where she lived in Lešnica near Loznica last night, while a man managed to evacuate in time. They are brother and sister, RTS reports.
Members of the Loznica fire-rescue unit with two vehicles and their colleagues from Lešnica with one vehicle participated in extinguishing the fire. An emergency medical team also arrived at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. According to initial findings, the fire was caused by a wood-burning stove, and the flames spread quickly to flammable material in the room, RTS unofficially learns.
The woman who perished was almost immobile and used crutches for movement. She allegedly did not manage to leave the burning house in time, Kurir reports.
As a reminder, in Lešnica at the end of January, a 66-year-old man lost his life in a fire that broke out around 10 PM in a family home, when wood located next to the stove ignited.
