The calendar for the remainder of 2026 and 2027 has been published, and it is missing one significant tournament, especially important for this region.

At issue is the “Belgrade Open,” an ATP 250 series tournament, which was held last year in Athens at the “OAKA Arena.”

During that week, which represents the transition between the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals (November 8-15), the famous tournament in Stockholm will be on the schedule.

The tournament in Metz, which was played last autumn in the same week as the tournament in Athens, has also disappeared from the calendar.

The tournament director is Đorđe Đoković, the younger brother of Novak Đoković, the best tennis player of all time.

Why did the tournament move from Belgrade to Greece?

“We have been organizing this tournament in Serbia for years. At one point, we had to move it from Belgrade to Banja Luka. There are operational procedures and logistics that must meet ATP standards. This year, we failed to overcome the difficulties we had for logistical reasons and reached a point where we had to move the tournament. It was very difficult to do that as Serbs – I was born and raised in Belgrade. It was also difficult because we started organizing the tournament many months ago, and then we had to discard everything and start from scratch,” said Đorđe Đoković.
