EVERY MATCH, A NEW RECORD: Djokovic recorded a record 106th victory at Wimbledon and secured the quarterfinals!

The best Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic, advanced to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon after defeating Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin with a score of 3:1 in sets (7:6, 6:3, 3:6, 6:3) in a fantastic and extremely tense round of 16 match.

What at one point on the screens looked like the introduction to a dramatic fifth set was actually a lion-hearted fight in the finish of the fourth set where our ace showed mental stability when it was needed most.

From a great start to unexpected drama

Novak opened the match extremely confidently. The first set was decided only after a tie-break in which Djokovic prevailed with 8:6, before routinely winning the second set with 6:3. However, Safiullin showed why he is a troublesome opponent – he raised his level of play in the third set, reduced our tennis player’s lead (6:3), and brought complete uncertainty into the remainder of the match.

The fourth set brought top-class tennis. Novak made a key break early on and took a 4:1 lead. However, the Russian did not give up. In the games where the result was being decided, a real drama was seen at the net – Safiullin managed to extricate himself from a difficult situation after one strange bounce and a “net”, saving game points and reducing the score to 4:2, and then to 5:3.

Nevertheless, when it mattered most, Djokovic remained composed on his serve, successfully brought the match to a close with 6:3, and secured a ticket to the very final stages of the tournament!

Novak continues his march toward a new trophy on the London grass, and the form he is displaying in key moments delights all fans in Serbia and around the world.
