The Serbian Patriarch Porfirije set off today from the Patriarchate of Pec, together with Pastor Mark Burns, spiritual adviser to the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, to visit Visoki Decani and other Serbian Orthodox holy sites in Kosovo and Metohija.

Previously, the liturgy in the Patriarchate of Pec was served by the Vicar Bishop Ilarion of Novo Brdo, with the prayerful participation of the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and Archimandrite Danilo, Director of the Patriarchal Administrative Office, the Serbian Orthodox Church announced.

Serving alongside him was Priest Vladimir Radovic, with the chanting of the highly reverend Abbess Haritina and the sisterhood of the Patriarchate of Pec.

Patriarch Porfirije arrived on Sunday, together with Pastor Mark Burns, in Kosovo and Metohija, at the Patriarchate of Pec.

Burns posted on Facebook that he is coming to Kosovo and Metohija not to deepen divisions or reopen wounds, but to listen and express respect for the dignity of every community.

He added that as a spiritual diplomat, he believes that peace requires more than words, that it requires the courage to cross borders, enter difficult and sensitive areas, listen to communities whose suffering is often ignored, and stand in defense of the dignity of every human life.

On Saturday, Burns attended a memorial service in Bratunac for 3,267 Serbs in middle Podrinje and Birc who were killed between 1992 and 1995 by members of Muslim units.
