Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated today that he will “wait” for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Turkey, where Putin had previously proposed that talks begin on Thursday.

“We expect a full and permanent ceasefire, starting tomorrow, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy,” Zelenskyy wrote on the X platform.

“I will wait for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians will not look for excuses,” Zelenskyy added.

US President Donald Trump today called on Ukraine and Russia to meet to negotiate a ceasefire without delay, with Moscow proposing direct talks and Kyiv seeking a truce.
