Pierre Poilievre, leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, could succeed Justin Trudeau.
For months, the Conservative Party has been leading ahead of the Liberals in the polls, placing them in a favorable position to form a new government after the next elections in Canada.
Poilievre is known for advocating smaller government and lower taxes. Even as a student, he expressed his ideas about “common sense” in politics through essays.
Born and raised in Calgary, he displayed political ambition early, winning a seat in Parliament at just 25 years old.

Known for his sharp rhetoric, he has frequently criticized Justin Trudeau’s liberal policies, calling them “authoritarian socialism” and “woke madness.” Poilievre supported protests against mandatory COVID-19 measures, and his proposals, such as eliminating the carbon tax, have drawn criticism regarding climate policy.
Despite divided public opinion, Poilievre promises political changes focused on the economy, security, and immigration, emphasizing the importance of integrating new immigrants.
He dismissed comments by Donald Trump suggesting that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state, pledging to “put Canada first.” His rhetoric is aimed at ordinary citizens, with his key message being a return to traditional values and strengthening the “Canadian dream,” according to the BBC.
