Young Serbian tennis sensation Luna Vujović (16) continues to show all the signs of a rising star. After capturing a title last week, she has now advanced to the semifinals of the ITF tournament in Mohammedia, defeating Russia’s Elina Nepliy 6-4, 6-1. She is now just one victory away from breaking into the world’s Top 500 senior players!
Following her triumph at Wimbledon in the Under-14 category, Luna steadily continued her development. Although her progress was temporarily slowed by an injury, she successfully overcame the setback and is once again making a rapid climb up the WTA rankings.
With the points she has already earned, she is projected to move into a tie for 508th place in the world rankings. Should she secure just one more victory in Mohammedia, she will officially enter the Top 500 for the first time in her career.
Vujović began the tournament by eliminating the top seed in the opening round before cruising through her next two matches in dominant fashion.
For a player who has yet to celebrate her 17th birthday, Luna has shown remarkable maturity, proving that she can handle pressure and remain focused on new goals despite already adding trophies to her collection.
The story now enters a new chapter, as she will battle for a place in the final against either Darya Yegorova of Russia or Diae El Jardi.
Both potential opponents are ranked below her on the WTA list, and it remains to be seen whether Luna can continue her impressive run when entering a match as a slight—or even significant—favorite according to the rankings.
