Serbian athlete Luka Bošković qualified for the long jump final at the European Championship in Birmingham.
Bošković started the qualifications with a foul in the first series, only to record a jump of 8.04 meters in the second and take first place in his qualification Group B.
The qualification norm of 8.15 meters in the continuation of the competition was surpassed by Bulgarian Bozhidar Sarâboyukov (8.20 m), Spaniard Eusebio Cáceres (8.24 m), and Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou (8.26 m).
In the third series, Bošković achieved a distance of 8.33 meters with a tailwind of 2.4 m/s. Due to wind speed above the allowed limit (2.0 m/s), that result is not counted as an official personal best, which for the Serbian jumper stands at 8.23 meters.
A longer jump in the qualifications was recorded only by Italian athlete Daniele Inzoli with 8.34 meters, with a tailwind of 3.1 m/s. The competition was ended before the end of qualifications due to injury by Italian Mattia Furlani.
The long jump final is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11 from 21:16.
