The Serbian Greco-Roman wrestling national team won third place in the team competition at an extremely strong international tournament in Romania, which featured 15 countries.
Our national team appeared in Bucharest with eight competitors, and as many as seven won medals.
The gold medal was claimed by Georgi Tibilov (63kg) and Uroš Krstin (97kg). Silver medals were won by Aleksandar Komarov (87kg), Ali Arsalan (77kg), Luka Katić (97kg), and Ognjen Jakovljević (82kg). Miloš Perović (87kg) reached bronze, while only Vamoš Antal remained without a medal.
The head coach of the Serbian national team, Vojislav Trajković, was extremely satisfied with the performance of our wrestlers.
“An excellent result was achieved, and given that this was a control tournament, perhaps even more important than the won medals is the quality of wrestling shown by all our competitors at this stage of preparation. I would particularly highlight our younger wrestlers. Ognjen Jakovljević showed huge progress compared to the previous ranking series tournament, and he is someone we will certainly be able to count on in the future. Also, Miloš Perović had a very good performance, as did Antal Vamoš. The tournament in Bucharest was a dress rehearsal before the Mediterranean Games, so we can be very satisfied,” Trajković pointed out.
Wrestling competitions at the Mediterranean Games, which are being held in Italy, are scheduled from August 22 to 25.
“We have a two to three day break ahead of us, and then final preparations which we will carry out at the National Training Center in Košutnjak. At the Mediterranean Games we will appear with four competitors, and the colors of our country will be defended by: Georgi Tibilov (67kg), Ali Arsalan (77kg), Viktor Nemeš (87kg), and Aleksandar Komarov (97kg),” Trajković concluded.
