The Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Iva Draškić Vićanović, has given all students a deadline to vacate the building by 4:00 PM.
An N1 reporter outside the Faculty of Philology says that students are removing their belongings.
Dean Iva Draškić Vićanović told N1 that the reason for this decision is the entrance exam, which will be held there in four days.
She stated that a return to classes was voted for, that students at other faculties where this occurred voluntarily withdrew, and that the premises must be cleared to prevent sleeping at the faculty.
Students asked her if they had communicated this with them, suggesting they should have discussed it.
Student Luka Ratović says that despite students removing their belongings and donations, the blockade is still not over.
“We didn’t come to remove anything on our own initiative; we were certainly told to do it under order. I don’t know what to expect after 4:00 PM, as things are already being put away. I guess we expect a clear answer from the Dean and the faculty administration as to why this was suddenly done without any prior notice,” he said.
He stated that it was voted, against the will of the students, to return to online classes.
“That’s a form of teaching that doesn’t happen at the faculty anyway. This didn’t include preparations for the entrance exam. We knew the entrance exam would be held at some point, and accordingly, we expected someone to inform us. Of course, that didn’t happen,” he explained.
When asked if this means the end of the blockade, the student replied no.
“It absolutely does not mean the end of the blockade. Students are demanding one thing; what is actually wanted is another. We are still in blockade. The blockade cannot be ended until we agree that it is ended,” he said.
When asked if the blockade is now more abstract than practical, he replied that remains to be seen.
“In any case, being thrown onto the street and acting there is not the only solution. We don’t even know what will happen to our building. I hope it won’t be locked in the coming days,” he said.
