American troops landed on a beach in Mexico, just a few days after Donald Trump allegedly threatened that he might bomb the country.

They arrived on Monday, November 17, and planted six signs in the sand before Mexican security was notified.

The unidentified men, reported to be American “contractors,” arrived by boat on a beach in northeastern Mexico. Although the exact location has not been confirmed, video posted on social media shows a beach known as “Bagdad.”

The signs they placed contained a warning: “Attention: Restricted Area,” in both English and Spanish.

It was also stated that the area is owned by the U.S. Department of Defense and that “unauthorized entry is prohibited.”

According to the Daily Mail, local security quickly arrived on the scene in trucks equipped with machine guns.

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs later confirmed that the navy removed the signs.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon admitted that the men had mistakenly landed on a beach located in the area where the Rio Grande, a river that originates in the U.S., flows into the Gulf of Mexico. They stated that the personnel had been sent to mark “National Defense Zone III.”

The incident occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump said that he would be “fine” with carrying out strikes on Mexico in the fight against drug trafficking.

Trump added that he “would not answer” the question of whether he would carry out the strikes only with Mexico’s permission.
