Rajka Galin Ćertić, the longtime director of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), has resigned, Nova.rs reports.

According to information obtained by Nova.rs, Galin Ćertić made the decision after being asked to prepare an official report on a clash between Dragan J. Vučićević, editor-in-chief of Informer, and Svetlana Trajković, a member of REM’s professional staff, on REM premises.

According to the portal’s sources, Galin Ćertić requested that her employment contract be terminated effective October 26.

Šabić: Director’s resignation makes the situation at REM even more difficult

Rodoljub Šabić, a member of the REM Council, told Nova.rs that the director’s resignation makes the situation at REM even more difficult and complicated.

“The atmosphere at REM for weeks has been such that her resignation did not surprise us. Some Council members, while protecting certain individuals, launched harsh attacks on their colleagues, which led to chaos. There is a pro-government faction within the Council that persistently rejects every attempt to sanction certain media outlets. The director’s resignation makes the situation at REM even more difficult and complicated,” Šabić said.

According to him, it is now impossible even to speculate about who might be appointed to the position.

“The process of selecting a new director is extremely complex and lengthy, and at this point we cannot even begin to guess who it might be,” Šabić said.

Galin Ćertić did not respond to calls from Nova.rs journalists before the article was published.
