It was turbulent in Niš today. Supporters of Aleksandar Vučić gathered in the city, where he is attending a session of the SNS Main Board, but so did those who oppose Vučić’s policies.
Although Vučić himself called on police officers the day before to let those who disagree with his policies through, that did not happen today.
A clash between supporters and the opposition was narrowly avoided.
Vučić also accused the students in blockade, whom he calls “blockaders” and who organized a protest in the city, of having a “fascist, totalitarian, Pol Pot-like” ideology that prohibits other people from expressing their opinions.
“They say, I’ll come and prevent you from holding the SNS Main Board session, so is there anyone normal, who has even three clear thoughts in their head, who would take part in that? Do you really think that people will support such people, that they are crazy? You can find them in every city; last night there were 2,000 of them in Novi Sad celebrating because we didn’t come,” Vučić said.
During a visit to the site where a new building for the Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics is to be constructed, he said:
“Imagine me being such an idiot that I go somewhere to celebrate because I didn’t let someone hold some kind of public forum somewhere; imagine what level they are at.”
“Normal people will not take part in that. There are more and more people who were even on that side but are now coming over here. On a daily basis, we are signing up dozens and dozens of blockaders across Serbia, people who have sincerely repented, who have sincerely understood what kind of madness they were committing,” Vučić said.
In the end, the SNS Main Board session was also held, at which Vučić was proposed as the lead candidate of the United Serbia list and as a candidate for prime minister.
