Felix Auger-Aliassime did not hide his disappointment after the defeat against Novak Đoković in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, but he pointed out that he wants to draw lessons for the future from such matches.
The Canadian admitted that this is not his first time missing out on a victory in a tight finish and stated that he will analyze what he must change in order to successfully tip such duels in his favor next time.
Speaking about Đoković, Auger-Aliassime emphasized that the Serbian tennis player plays best when it is most needed.
“I have had opportunities earlier in my career where matches this close did not end in my favor. I will have to see what I can do so that next time the outcome is different,” the Canadian said.
He particularly highlighted Đoković’s ability to take control of the match in key points.
“In the most important moments, Novak plays best or forces you to play one more shot. He keeps you in a position from which you cannot attack him, neutralizes your game, and waits for you to make a mistake,” Auger-Aliassime concluded.
