Radmila Krstić, the mother of Dragan Krstić, principal of the “Desanka Maksimović” Elementary School from Kosovska Kamenica, who was detained on Thursday by the so-called Kosovo police, stated that the police searched their family home, after which her son was taken to the police station and has not returned home.

Krstić says that the so-called Kosovo police came in front of their house on Thursday morning with a search warrant, following an allegation that they supposedly possessed weapons.

“Yesterday around half past eight, police parked in front of the house and 6–7 officers came out. They entered through the gate. I was in front of the house. They said they were looking for Dragan Krstić,” she stated.

She added that the officers said the Krstić family had been reported for possessing weapons, while she told them that, as far as she knew, they did not have weapons and that they could search the house.

“Dragan was there, I called him and he came out. They showed him some paper. Everything was in Albanian, there was no translation, everything was in Albanian,” said Radmila Krstić.

According to her, the police thoroughly searched all rooms in the house.

“Every room, every corner, everything they could, they turned upside down and searched. Both the upper floor, and downstairs we have a basement, and auxiliary rooms. They searched everything. They said it would last 10 minutes, but the searching through the house lasted an hour and ten minutes,” said the mother of the detained Dragan Krstić.

She added that her son was taken to the police station after the search to give a statement.

“He said he was going to the police, that he had to give a statement and that he would return. They did not release him, he did not come back. He takes medication, we brought it to him. His daughter had her graduation yesterday, the small graduation. When she arrived, she was crying and asking where her father was. They have always harassed us like this. We are Serbs in that street. They have burned our cars and thrown bombs at us, they have done everything,” she said.

Krstić stated that she is proud of her son and that he has not done anything illegal.

The arrested Krstić’s mother-in-law, Snežana Arsić, said that they face daily problems with the Pristina institutions.

“I go to the police every day, reporting the violence they are committing against us. We have a problem with their institutions because we are Serbs, just because we are Serbs,” said Arsić.

The so-called Kosovo police detained Negovan Vasić, principal of the “Bratstvo” Elementary School from the village of Strezovce, and Dragan Krstić, principal of the “Desanka Maksimović” Elementary School from Kosovska Kamenica, on Thursday, and they were ordered to be held in police custody for up to 48 hours. The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that they were arrested on political grounds and by order of Pristina.

The Serbian List stated that this is a classic case of political pressure and that the arrest was carried out at the moment when, based on the complaint filed by Negovan Vasić as manager of the polling station, the Serbian List submitted an appeal to the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Submissions due to serious vote irregularities at a polling station in Boljevac.

Employees in all Serbian primary and secondary schools in the Kosovsko Pomoravlje region held protests today due to the arrest of the two principals of Serbian primary schools in the Kosovska Kamenica area.

Elections for the assembly of the provisional self-government institutions in Kosovo and Metohija were held on June 7, and the elections were marked by brutal pressure from Pristina on Serbs and the strongest Serbian party in the province – the Serbian List.
