Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated after a meeting with the president and CEO of the Hungarian MOL Group, Zsolt Hernádi, that the negotiations regarding the sale of the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) and future relations in the company are not easy and that there are red lines that cannot be crossed.

“Agreements on the sale of NIS and our future relations in NIS are not easy and there are red lines that we cannot cross. Our goal is for the Pančevo Refinery to continue operating at full capacity, but also for MOL to take over or replace the obligations that NIS committed to in the past which are of importance to the Republic of Serbia,” Dubravka Đedović Handanović posted on Instagram after the meeting in Belgrade.

She stated that the topic of the conversation was also the method of managing the company in the future, adding that discussions will continue in the coming days in Belgrade, while MOL also continues negotiations with Gazprom Neft and Gazprom.

On Friday, after the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department extended the license for NIS to operate until June 16, Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated that the management of MOL would be in Belgrade on Saturday, and operational teams from Tuesday, in order to discuss all details regarding the takeover of the Russian stake in NIS.

The United States of America imposed sanctions on NIS on October 9 due to majority Russian ownership.
