A shooting and a fight occurred in a betting shop in Mirijevo last night, in which two security guards were injured. The conflict took place around 6 PM, and the police found the man who fired the shots at the scene of the attack and arrested him immediately.
As the media learns, the argument in front of the betting shop occurred because security did not allow M. J. (44) to enter the premises, and a little later he pulled out a gun and shot security guard A. M. (20) in the leg. The wounded young man managed to flee the scene of the shooting and then called for help.
M. J. had come to the betting shop about an hour and a half earlier, wanting to place a bet, but the employees called security to remove him because he has been banned from entering that betting shop for years, most likely due to previous incidents. After he was denied entry, M. J. left and then returned armed around 6 PM, which is when the shooting occurred.
After wounding the young security member, a fight broke out in front of the betting shop, and M. J. struck another security worker in the head with the pistol.
Emergency services transported both security guards from the location they had retreated to to the hospital, where they were provided with further medical care, and the police arrested M. J., who still had the gun on him with a bullet in the barrel, ready to fire again.
The investigation into the event is being led by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, and M. J. will most likely be charged with the criminal offenses of attempted murder and illegal possession, carrying, and trafficking of weapons and explosive substances.
