Prime Minister Đuro Macut stated that Serbia needs dialogue, not divisions, and arguments based on facts, not insults and exclusivity, noting that he is “astonished” by the divisions in society.

“Only through dialogue can we build trust and create an environment where differences are seen not as a threat, but as an incentive for better solutions. On this path, we have not yet reached the end, and we should not deceive ourselves into thinking that this work is finished,” Macut said in an interview with the newspaper Politika.

He added that he is confident that Serbian society has made progress and has moved further than it was a year ago, and that this progress forms a foundation on which we can continue.

Macut emphasized that “Serbia remains consistently and firmly committed to the process of European integration, which we understand as a long-term and serious process based on reforms, internal stability, and an equal partnership with the European Union (EU).”

“I want to emphasize that Serbia is and remains open to dialogue with all EU partners, including representatives of the European Parliament (EP),” Macut said.

He noted that “dialogue must be conducted within established institutional channels, with full respect for procedures, diplomatic protocol, and mutual respect.”

“To avoid any confusion, the names of people heading institutions in this case are not important; it is about respecting the state of Serbia and its citizens, whom these institutions represent,” Macut concluded.
