Zbor Rakovica called for a protest tonight at 7 p.m., due to yesterday’s kidnapping of their activist following a student action in which they distributed “students win” stickers. “Students in blockade” reacted to this case, publishing details of this event on their social networks.
“Last night, in the Belgrade neighborhood of Resnik, during a peaceful action of distributing Students win stickers, three participants of Zbor Rakovica were brutally attacked. A group of about ten attackers emerged from a van with Serbia wins markings, while one of the participants of Zbor, after harassment, was forcibly put into a black car without license plates and driven off in an unknown direction. What followed after this classic kidnapping clearly shows a new reality in Serbia: intimidation no longer works,” the students stated, then continued:
“While the police on the ground showed passivity, the network of student solidarity reacted instantly. Information about the attack and the identities of the attackers spread through the networks faster than the kidnappers expected. According to the testimony of our colleague, at the moment when the attackers realized that their initials and data had become public, their aggression turned into a panicked attempt at damage control. Faced with the fact that they are no longer anonymous and that thousands of others stand behind one of us, the attackers changed their rhetoric: from blows they moved to apologies, and even to bizarre attempts to bribe the victim with money for broken glasses and torn clothing. This was not an act of mercy, but pure fear of responsibility,” they stated.
The police and the prosecutor’s office have not yet spoken out about the attack.
A video from after the attack was also published on social networks.
So far, several attackers have been identified by social media users, and the one most well-known to the public is specifically Bojan Nagradić.
