Miroslav Gudžić from Dobrotin was beaten today by a group of unknown attackers in Donja Gušterica, after which he ended up in the Clinical Hospital Center Priština with its temporary headquarters in Gračanica. As he recounted, in an attempt to avoid the incident, he took refuge in a room of the Health Center in Donja Gušterica. As he claims, a group of Albanians then entered and continued to beat him, and on that occasion, an employee of that health institution was also injured while trying to defend him and was also hospitalized.

Gudžić claims that the incident occurred after a Golf car overtook a line of vehicles on the Dobrotin-Gušterica road and almost hit him.

“Today in the morning hours, around 11 a.m., I set off from Dobrotin toward Gušterica; near the Dobrotin cemetery, a white car, registration plates 01, I think it was a Golf 5, started overtaking several vehicles. I flashed my high beams to inform him that we were going to collide. I stopped, and he passed by me. I continued toward Gušterica and at the intersection, near the Premija market, someone hit my car from the rear right side. I stopped to see who it was and saw three young Albanians. They were shouting something from the car; I didn’t know who they were,” Gudžić said.

After that, the beaten man adds, they were joined by the car he met on the road, and as he points out, they were persistent in their intention to stop him.

“At that moment, I wanted to continue on my way, to avoid the whole situation. I moved forward and the car I encountered near the Dobrotin cemetery blocked my path. I somehow managed to avoid that blockade and turned into the street toward the Health Center, hoping they would give up on their intention. They continued to follow me. I think there were three vehicles, I don’t remember, at one point in the rearview mirror I saw three vehicles. The first was an Opel Corsa, then a white Golf and a black Golf,” he stated.

He explained that he tried to take shelter within the premises of the Health Center in Donja Gušterica, but they burst in, started beating him, and dragged him outside. In an attempt to defend him, an employee of that institution also sustained physical injuries.

“I saw that they wanted a conflict, I tried to turn into the yard of the Donja Gušterica Health Center, they blocked my path again, I somehow reached the Administrative Building, jumped out of the car and entered an office, somewhere to hide. They, five or six of them, went after me. They burst into the office after me and there they started hitting me, pulling me, to get me out of the office. There was an employee or a nurse there who tried to defend me, and they attacked her too. You can imagine, the woman just tried to defend me. Then they dragged me outside and beat me,” Gudžić emphasized.

According to him, he does not know the attackers, and he believes the only motive for the attack is that he is a Serb and that he drives a car with Serbian license plates.

“I don’t know who those people are. I don’t know the motive for their attack. I did not provoke them in any way, I did not endanger them with anything, I didn’t even think ill of anyone. There. The only motive is that I am a Serb and that I drive a car with Niš plates. I don’t see any other motive, why they would attack me,” said the beaten man.

He added that while they were beating him, they threatened him and cursed at him.

“They cursed my Serbian mother, they threatened that they would find me anywhere and they cursed me the whole time. They threatened, they yelled, I have never in my life seen so much hatred and so much bloodthirstiness in the eyes of people. Their eyes are monstrous,” Gudžić recounted.

The case was reported to the police, who took a statement from Miroslav at the hospital.

“I asked the workers from the Health Center to call the police immediately. The police were here, I gave a statement. The case is open and they told me to report to give a specific statement at the police station in Gračanica,” he added.

As he stated, besides the physical injuries, he has faltered spiritually, but he also points out that he is not afraid.

“Physically – I am very bad, I am injured. Psychically – also very bad, spiritually faltered, but strong and I am not afraid of them. I am not afraid of them, I am not afraid even if we meet again,” Gudžić said.

The director of the Clinical Hospital Center Priština with its temporary headquarters in Gračanica, Bratislav Lazić, pointed out that the health condition of the patients is stable, but that he will be able to comment on the assessment of the injuries only after a complete diagnostic.

“Two injured persons were admitted today at 12:20 p.m. to the surgical clinic of KBC Priština based in Gračanica with injuries sustained in a fight, according to their statements. They were brought by an ambulance vehicle, the patients were admitted to our clinic and are in the process of processing and further diagnostics. Currently, their health condition is stable, but we can comment on some additional details and the assessment of the severity of the injuries only after the completion of the complete diagnostics,” Lazić said.
