Students of the University of Novi Sad gathered for a protest in front of the Faculty of Philosophy after earlier today deciding at a plenary session to boycott classes at all Novi Sad faculties. The gathering began at 5:00 PM, reports N1.
“Today we held a plenary session with all students of the University of Novi Sad. We decided to call on everyone to boycott – both students of the university and the teaching staff and all professors,” said student Vuk from the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.
Earlier, the students involved in the blockade called on social media for a gathering in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.
“At the faculty, it’s either us or the police. In any case, there will be no classes,” the students wrote in a post.
Several hundred students and professors of the University of Novi Sad gathered this evening in front of the building of the Faculty of Philosophy, which they could not enter because the university administration had locked the building.
The Faculty of Philosophy building is currently completely dark, even though classes are usually held there at this time of day, reports the Beta news agency.
A reporter from the portal 021.rs reported at the start of the protest that police were not present at the Faculty of Philosophy building.
Earlier today, students at the University of Novi Sad decided at a plenary session to boycott classes at all Novi Sad faculties.
It is worth recalling that yesterday, members of the Gendarmerie and the police’s Intervention Unit, fully equipped for riot control, intervened at the Faculty of Philosophy and forcibly removed students from the building.
The police were called to the faculty by Dean Milivoj Alanović after students announced a blockade in response to the dismissal of Professor Jelena Kleut.
