At a wedding in a village near Leskovac, the celebration almost turned into a serious incident — all because of, no less, a poorly chosen song, a story that is now making waves across southern Serbia.
According to eyewitnesses, at first, everything seemed perfect, just as it should be at such a celebration. The band played soft melodies, and guests enjoyed the dinner and the couple’s first dance.
However, the idyll did not last long…
At one point, the groom’s friend, visibly tipsy and eager to be “funny,” took the microphone. The hall fell silent as he casually said a sentence that changed everything:
“Let’s do ‘Za Ljiljanu’ by Toma now. He said he was going to marry her anyway, so we should at least honor her this way!”
All eyes immediately turned to the newlyweds. The bride first blushed, then went pale. As the first notes of the song echoed through the hall, she stood up silently and left the room. The tension was palpable.
The bride’s brother could not remain calm. He approached the friend who had requested the song. Pushing soon followed, and guests froze, aware that one wrong move could escalate into a full-blown fight. Fortunately, the groom’s friends acted quickly — they removed the friend from the stage and prevented the incident from escalating.
The bride’s and groom’s parents were visibly embarrassed, while the guests whispered comments about the situation. The groom instructed the band to change the song and then followed his wife to calm her down. About fifteen minutes later, the couple returned to the hall, acting as if nothing had happened. However, the awkwardness lingered.
“It was extremely tense. We danced and laughed, but our eyes kept darting back to them,” said one guest.
The celebration continued, but the episode with the song “Za Ljiljanu” remained etched in everyone’s memory — a reminder that even a single song, at the wrong moment, can spark a conflict and nearly lead to a serious incident.
