The American Bret McMahan, during his journey through the Balkans, stayed in Serbia unexpectedly longer than he had planned.
On his Instagram, he has been sharing videos for days about things that have intrigued him in Belgrade, and the most attention was drawn by a video in which he says that “Serbia is his new home” and asks for advice on how he could stay.
“I think I will stay here in Belgrade. All I need is to get a work visa, find a job, or money to start my own business,” Bret began.
“No offense, but Serbia is a very strange place. It is like an unpolished diamond. I discovered Serbia almost three months ago and it seems I cannot leave,” he joked and pointed out that the “years of struggle have made the people full of spirit, pride, hospitality, full of life.”
“As for my future, I have no idea what’s next. Maybe I’ll start an English school for children, teenagers, and adults. I am focused and I will find a way to repay the people of Serbia for their hospitality and warmth and welcome to their country,” he explained and called on people from the region to give him their suggestions.
What would you advise him?
