Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić stated that multiple incidents occurred near Pionirski Park during the night, resulting in the detention of 13 individuals. He noted that all incidents were directed towards Pionirski Park, where students who wish to study were gathered.

Speaking to RTS, Dačić said that some individuals were detained for disturbing public order and peace. He reported that most of the tractors placed around Pionirski Park were damaged, that there were attempts to set tractors on fire, push them onto the road, and that participants in the park, as well as police officers, were targeted with projectiles.

According to police estimates, Dačić stated that approximately 31,000 people participated in last night’s gatherings across multiple locations, including students arriving from all over Serbia and citizens welcoming them.

“However, not everyone dispersed. Several hundred people caused problems during the night. Despite all these incidents, we can assess that last night’s events took place without major disturbances to public order and peace, and we hope the same will be true today,” Dačić said.

He added that police identified and detained all those responsible for the incidents, noting that some were visibly intoxicated and have been held in custody.

“As we have stated before, we will not allow the disturbance of public order and peace,” Dačić emphasized.

When asked whether there were any injuries, Dačić responded that there were certain events occurring in other parts of the city but that no major incidents were recorded.

He reported that some extremists climbed onto buildings around Pionirski Park and threw objects at students in the park. Additionally, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering reported that two unknown, intoxicated individuals arrived at the faculty and clashed with security personnel.

“I believe one of them even slapped a security guard. We have identified this individual and are searching for him,” Dačić stated.

He also mentioned that police officers were subjected to verbal abuse and projectiles but stressed that, despite public speculation, the police were not preparing to use force.

“No one is allowed to assault others, no one is allowed to break into institutions, and no one is allowed to attack the police. The priority here is to maintain public order, ensure the country’s stability, and protect all citizens, their lives, and property,” Dačić said.

He urged everyone to remain cautious and to make every effort to ensure that no further incidents occur.
