US intelligence agencies released a joint statement today accusing Russia of creating a video falsely depicting a Haitian immigrant claiming to have voted multiple times during early voting in the US state of Georgia.
“This assessment is based on information available to (the intelligence community) and the previous activities of other Russian actors, including videos and other disinformation activities,” the US agencies said in a statement.

The statement was jointly issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Georgia is one of seven key states expected to decide the outcome of the presidential election between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris, Reuters reports.
The office of Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Thursday called the video “targeted disinformation” and said it was likely produced by “Russian troll farms”. Raffensperger called on social media companies to remove the video from their platforms.
The US intelligence community, after several months of monitoring, has assessed that Russian operations promoting support for Trump are present in the electoral process, which Moscow denies. The US presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, Tanjug reports.
