As part of the fourth round of Group 4 “A” division of the Nations League, the Serbian national football team is visiting the Spanish national team, and that match is scheduled for tomorrow at 8:45 pm.
Before tomorrow’s match, the coach of the “Eagles” Dragan Stojković Piksi and the footballer Nemanja Maksimović will address the journalists.
Piksi commented on the previous match with the Spaniards
“Everyone compares that match from a month ago in Belgrade, when we drew. It’s true that we were defensively very well organized, sometimes you do it consciously and those are tactical ideas, and sometimes you do it because of the opponent and that happened in Belgrade, because Spain is a team that can really dominate possession against any team. I don’t know if it will be a similar match or the same as in Belgrade. It depends on the field, on many factors… And you can play against Spain differently, in a different system, with
different ideas…”
“Likewise, there is a space there to use moments when the opponent is standing very high and in counter-attacks you can be extremely dangerous. You can play differently against Spain, in the end it’s all a question of how it will look, considering that we, like them, have a lot of personnel problems – and if I tell you the players who are not with us, then you will know what I’m talking about”, said Piksi.
Nemanja Maksimović about the victory over Switzerland
“A match that meant a lot to us for our self-confidence. Finally, after two defeats in major competitions, we managed to beat them, we were very motivated, we wanted to show that we are better than them and that we can play against the best teams. First of all, I would like to praise the audience at the stadium in Leskovac who were with us from the first to the last minute and cheered fairly and sportily. I think that is the right way and I hope that with these results we will be able to bring the audience back and that they will be with us at every match.
Spain, although they have a large number of injured players, and we also have, which is normal – the season is long and every team sometimes encounters such problems. I think it will be a completely different match than it was in Belgrade, especially since Spain has a different type of player compared to the first match.
“In football, it is the most difficult to gain respect, and it is very easy to lose. I think that in previous years we worked very hard to gain that respect. The people, the fans and you journalists lost faith in us, especially after the European Championship. Now we have a difficult road ahead of us, we have to work hard every day, believe in ourselves and regain that trust, first and foremost of the people, and also of you journalists. I think that in these three matches we are on the right track, there is still a long way to go, but I believe that tomorrow’s match is to fight and desire… The result is not so important as how we will present ourselves and how much energy and desire we will give for every ball. I think that only in that way we can regain the nation’s trust in this team and I believe that together we can play a good game tomorrow”, said Maksimović.
