Serbian President Aleksandar Vučićsaid tonight that the EU will never admit Serbia as a member, that he is “aware of that,” and that “it would never occur to him to serve” Brussels or sever good relations with other countries. Despite this, he also said that Serbia will continue the European integration process because “a responsible person must cooperate.”
“I understand geopolitics better than 90 percent (of EU representatives), and that is why they like to listen to me… We should be on the European path, but it will not be short, simple, or anything else,” Vučić said, adding that of all EU officials, he respects only European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa.
He also added that on September 16, former KLA leader and Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi will be found not guilty of crimes committed against Serbs during 1998 and 1999, and that the West will “cover this up” by having him convicted of contempt of court, that is, the Specialist Chambers of Kosovo before which the verdict will be handed down on that date.
Appearing as a guest on TV Informer, he said that afterward he would speak about how the West had “lied to and deceived” Serbia, that is, he would summarize what had been done against the Serbs.
“Then we will talk differently with the Europeans and everyone else,” Vučić said.
He also said that he was looking forward to the announced publication of the “student list,” because then “everyone will see what kind of lunatics we are dealing with.” He also assessed that future governments would “force the citizens of Serbia to attend concerts by Marko Perković Thompson” in the name of international reconciliation.
Vučić said that in a few days, on September 9 or 10, he would call elections, and that if he were to be the Serbian Progressive Party’s candidate for prime minister, his government would have no more than 12 ministries.
We remind you that the last clear date Vučić had predicted for Serbia’s accession to the EU was the end of 2026. He said this ironically in Brussels at the end of June 2020.
At the same time, he said he expected Serbia to complete its membership negotiations by the end of 2024.
After that, he changed the wording. For example, on November 4, 2024, he said that the goal was for Serbia to “fulfill all obligations under the reform agenda” by 2027.
