FIND OUT MORE:
The remains from the Late Neolithic period, which constitute its largest segment, formed by the layering of settlements of generations of Late Neolithic inhabitants, belong to the period 5300–4600 BC.
Based on the found objects – ceramic vessels, artifacts made of stone, bone and horn, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figurines, prosopomorphic lids, altars, pieces of malachite and cinnabar, decorative objects, jewelry, as well as the remains of houses, the Vinča culture was defined – the most significant phenomenon of the Late Neolithic and Eneolithic, which developed throughout the territory of the central Balkans, and was named after this very site.
PostEurop’s annual selection for the most beautiful “Europa” issue stamp has been held since 2002 under the auspices of the Association of European Public Postal Operators – PostEurop, in which the Serbian Post Office has participated from the very beginning.
Since 2007, with the introduction of online voting, the selection has been open to the public and is increasingly popular among citizens, as well as among philatelists and philately enthusiasts.
