More than 6,000 people will gather on June 27 and 28 at the grounds of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. George the Great Martyr in Niagara Falls to mark Vidovdan.
This time, the 81st Serbian Day “Vidovdan” in Niagara Falls will have the honor of hosting His Royal Highness Hereditary Prince Filip Karađorđević and his family. The festival will also welcome numerous other distinguished guests, including federal, provincial and municipal officials, representatives of Serbian diplomacy and many others.
“Serbian Day in Niagara is one of the oldest Serbian gatherings in all of North America,” said Dr. Bojan Ratković, president of the Church-School Congregation. “Unfortunately, the pandemic posed an enormous challenge. After 2020, attendance dropped sharply, and many feared we would never recover. Thank God, the situation has improved significantly in recent years. Last year, ticket sales increased by 55.5% compared to the previous year, and in 2026 we expect more than 6,000 visitors.”
The festival’s success can be attributed to excellent food, top-quality entertainment, exciting sports tournaments, the recently introduced Kids’ Zone with numerous inflatable castles and other free activities for children, as well as the fact that the Church of St. George the Great Martyr owns one of the most beautiful church properties in all of Canada.
“We are delighted to host the Hereditary Prince of Serbia and his family for the first time,” Ratković added. “This year, we invite all Serbs in North America to visit the magnificent Niagara Falls, spend an unforgettable weekend with us, and help us welcome the Karađorđević family in a truly Serbian way!”
