Călin Georgescu, a far-right Romanian politician who won the recently annulled first round of Romania’s presidential elections, has called Ukraine a fictional state, claiming that the eventual division of its territory is inevitable.
In an interview for the Romanian YouTube channel “Cristoiu”, Georgescu stated that the redrawing of Ukraine’s borders as a consequence of its war with Russia is certain, suggesting that Romania could lay claim to parts of Ukrainian territory.
“The path to that is inevitable. Ukraine is an invented state,” Georgescu declared, adding that the world is changing and borders will be redrawn.
According to him, Romania has an interest in the Ukrainian regions of Northern Bukovina, Budjak, and Northern Maramureș, which border the country.

Estimates suggest that between 150,000 and 500,000 ethnic Romanians live in Ukraine, primarily in border areas, reports The Kyiv Independent.
Georgescu also suggested that Poland could annex Lviv.
At the same time, he claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump would seek to quickly reach an agreement with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to end the war, which would mean that Bucharest would no longer have to provide aid to Kyiv.
