U.S. President Donald Trump said today at a press conference at the White House that the United States, despite having good relations with Denmark, will not abandon its intention to take over Greenland.
“As you know, we have very good relations with Denmark, but we are building the Golden Dome, we are doing many things, and we really need it,” Trump said.
“If we don’t get there, the problem is that Denmark will not be able to do anything if Russia or China want to occupy Greenland. I cannot rely on Denmark being able to defend itself, but we can do everything, as we have seen in Venezuela,” Trump said.
He stressed that taking over Greenland is necessary for both American and European national security and added that he had discussed the matter with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
