The Eparchy of Raška and Prizren expresses deep concern and strong protest regarding the irresponsible statements of Professor Jusuf Budžovi and Enver Redže on TV “Koha”. Among numerous unhistorical and speculative claims, Budžovi also said that the unfinished Church of Christ the Savior in the center of Priština should have been demolished immediately after the war.

The publication of such a statement in a leading Kosovo media outlet is not only a provocation, but represents an open call for the destruction of religious buildings and is a clear form of hate speech, which must be unequivocally condemned by all who value peace, religious freedom and cultural coexistence, the Eparchy of Raška and Prizren states.

“The Church of Christ the Savior, although unfinished due to the outbreak of war, is a consecrated temple belonging to the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Calling for its demolition means inciting religious intolerance, encouraging the erasure of cultural identity and causing additional tensions in a region that still bears the heavy burden of conflict,” the statement said. The Eparchy of Raška and Prizren warns that such rhetoric seriously undermines any effort towards reconciliation and mutual respect between communities in Kosovo.

“It also represents a violation of basic human rights, including the right to freedom of religion and the protection of cultural and religious heritage, guaranteed by both international and Kosovo laws,” the Eparchy of Raška and Prizren states.
