Firefighters are currently battling a blaze at Kalemegdan Fortress that erupted due to the use of pyrotechnics by graduating students celebrating their last day of school.
No injuries have been reported.
As shown in a video posted on the Instagram page “moj_beo_grad,” the fire started around 2 PM.
“Graduates lit flares, and the grass immediately caught fire! It all happened during a graduation celebration, and the flames quickly spread. It’s currently unknown if the fire has been extinguished. We hope no one was injured. Celebrate, yes, but be cautious with pyrotechnics – Kalemegdan is not a place for fire,” the page posted earlier.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) previously issued an important appeal to all graduates, reminding them that flares are not toys.
