The Georgian national basketball team pulled off another surprise at Eurobasket, defeating France 80-70 in the round of 16.
After Finland shocked Serbia on Saturday night, Aleksandar Džikić’s team created another sensation in Riga, setting up a quarter-final match against the Scandinavian team.
For most of the game, Georgia held the lead against the two-time Olympic champion, thanks to amazing performances by Kamar Baldwin and Tornike Shengelia. The duo then broke the “Tricolores” in a tight finish.
With the score at 68-68, Shengelia hit a three-pointer, and then Baldwin made three free throws after drawing a shooting foul in the last second of the shot clock. The pair then sealed the victory from the free-throw line against Frédéric Fauthoux’s squad, securing a historic spot in the quarter-finals!
