The joint celebration of Sretenje, the Statehood Day of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, continued today in Banja Luka with a series of ceremonies.
A tête-à-tête meeting between the presidents of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia – Milorad Dodik and Aleksandar Vučić – was held at the Palace of the Republic, along with a meeting of the two delegations. The President of RS stated that cooperation between Srpska and Serbia has never been better. The President of Serbia emphasized that Banja Luka and Belgrade are building a shared future without disturbing or harming anyone.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that 770 police officers were engaged in these duties and tasks, considering that the highest leadership of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia attended the events.
On the occasion of Sretenje, the Statehood Day of Serbia and Srpska, a newly constructed Orthopedic Surgery Clinic of the “Dr. Miroslav Zotović” Institute was opened today.
A ceremony was also held where awards were presented to deserving individuals and organizations in various fields in honor of Sretenje.
The ceremony began with the anthems of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, “Moja Republika” and “Bože pravde.”
The Order of the Flag of Srpska with a Golden Wreath was awarded to renowned Serbian basketball players Nikola Jokić and Bogdan Bogdanović, with the awards to be presented after the NBA season concludes.
The Order of Njegoš of the First Degree was awarded to the Basketball Federation of Serbia and the head coach of the Serbian men’s national team, Svetislav Pešić, as well as to Predrag Danilović, former Yugoslav and Serbian basketball player.
Dodik told the awardees to be proud that Srpska is expressing its gratitude for their achievements, which have made the citizens of Srpska happy and proud.
The Order of Honor with Golden Rays was awarded, among others, posthumously to drama actor Nebojša Glogovac, and to Darko Tanasković, an Islamic scholar, orientalist philologist, university professor, and diplomat.
